Anatomy
Friday, June 29th, 2007Fantastic Friday … up at 5:30 am with strong thunderstorms moving through the area, Matt even got up with me, so we are almost into our 12th hour today. Feeling a sense of home and relaxing in with only my toiletries to unpack.  I took time this afternoon for a swedish massage. Each time I get a massage now, I am enjoyably focusing on anataomy, trying to learn all I can about the muscles in the body!!!  We worked on my trapezius and latissmus dorsi and found my QL (Quadratis Lumborum) is balled up and tight. The QL’s are muscles that go from the top of your hip bone to the lowest two ribs of your back. The QL raises the hip and is the major stablizer of the low back…Its origin is the iliac crest (pelvic bone) and the insertion is the last rib. To get more of a visual, in front of the Quadratus lumborum are the colon, the kidney, the Psoas major and minor, and the diaphragm
 Did you know?
There are more than 630 muscles in your body. On average, your body weight is 40% muscle. Out of the 630 muscles, 30 of them are facial muscles, which help you create all those different faces of happiness, surprise, joy, sorrow, sadness, fright, etc. The muscles surrounding your eye are the busiest muscles in your body. Research indicates that you probably blink them more than 100,000 times a day. The biggest muscle in your body is the gluteus maximus (your butt).
Heading out to dinner with hubby…and maybe a local bar (or gentlemen’s club/titty bar), depending on the weather. We’ve had almost 6 inches of rain yesterday & today!!!
